I don’t usually watch O.prah but today’s topic is likely of interest to many of us. Just wanted to share. The title of the show is already rubbing me the wrong way, but I am very curious to see what these folk’s experience has been.

i saw that show advertised yesterday and wished i was going to be home to watch it. just the way the website advertises it, you can tell it might rub some of the ttc crowd the wrong way. “when DAD is a sperm donor” ugh! i have so many questions about who they feature on the show. so wish i could see it!

I’d love a report back on the show. Looking at the online stuff I’m struck by a few things: that almost every donor-conceived child they profile felt some sort of void in their lives (is this an accurate sample?), that there is almost no focus on their actual parents who spent their lives raising them, and that there are no lesbian parents. Anyway, I hope the show itself was a little better. Would love to hear more about it.

oh, e, that would be great if you were able to tape it…since we have a similar invested interest in one specific sperm donor!
it would be shame if there were not any families with two moms on the show. in fact, i think it would be a gross oversite of the producers!

i got it on tape and i will post about it later today. And NO, the two mom side of donor babies was not brought up! Thankfully there were a couple of donors, who’ve been contacted and had a really good prospective on their role in the kid’s lives.
chris- if anything the show made me soooooooooo happy that our kids will have each other from the start!
